At a reception on November 15 for the visiting President of the California State Senate, Darrel Steinberg, Nguyen Thanh Chin, permanent member of the Municipal People’s Council, expressed hope that with its experience and potential, California will assist Ho Chi Minh City to promote socio-economic development and address issues such as waste treatment, clean water supply, clean energy development, human resources training, and HIV/AIDS prevention.

For his part, Darrel Steinberg highly appreciated the efforts of the Vietnamese government and HCM City in poverty reduction and took note of the challenges facing Vietnam in general and HCMC in particular.

He said the two sides can develop cooperative programs in various forms.
