The number of industrial workers in August rose 0.6 percent against the previous month.

The rise was attributed to increasing industrial production, which was up 1.6 percent in value in August compared to July.

Meanwhile, the industrial production value in the first eight months of this year stood at 13.6 percent, on a par with the pre-economic crisis figure, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Among the enterprises recording the highest turnover figures are those involved in the dairy, animal feed, beer, garments and textiles industries and those manufacturing bricks, ceramic tiles and plastics.

Meanwhile, the number of workers employed in foreign direct invested enterprises in August increased by 0.8 percent compared to July. Employment was up 0.6 percent in non-state enterprises and 0.1 percent in state-run enterprises.

The GSO said the FDI sector was actively seeking new markets at home and abroad.
