Newly-elected Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dzung expressed his special sentiments toward former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai who led the Government successfully for many years and praised his wholehearted devotion to the nation and people.

The Government opened its regular monthly meeting in Hanoi on June 30 with the participation of former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan and other newly-elected cabinet members.

Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dzung thanked former PM Phan Van Khai, former deputy PM Vu Khoan and other cabinet members who have quit their posts to do other duties for helping him accomplish his tasks over the past years.

The newly-elect PM expressed his special sentiments toward former PM Khai who led the Government successfully for many years and praised his wholehearted devotion to the nation and people.

For his part, Mr Khai reviewed the tremendous achievements made by the government over the past few years and expressed concern over pending problems which need to be resolved soon. He believed that the younger members of the Government will well accomplish all tasks assigned to them.

Mr Khai said the Government’s great achievements in accelerating the country’s socio-economic development over the past years were attributed to the unity and unanimity among cabinet members. The former leader also believed that the Government will continue strengthening its performance capacity, improving people’s living conditions, particularly in remote and mountainous areas and ensuring the equality and democracy in society, as well as intensifying the fight against corruption.
