By 11am, the price of domestic gold was widely bought at VND26.95-27.02 million/tael and sold at VND27.10-27.12 million/tael, up VND170,000/tael against previous day.

According to gold investors, there was a flurry of buying on December 14 when the price of gold dropped below VND27 million/tael for the first time in a month.    

Over the past three days, Saigon Jewelry Company bought 15,000 taels on average per day, three times more than the amount it sold to the market.

In the New York market, the world price of gold stood at US$1,129.20 per ounce by 10.50am on December 15, up by US$3/ounce against that at the previous day’s closing time.
