President of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia Vojtech Filip has expressed his hope for closer relations between the Vietnamese and Czech communist parties as well as between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

Mr Filip, who is Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, made the remarks at a meeting with Nguyen Van Son, Director of the Commission for External Relations of the Communist Party of Vietnam in Hanoi on April 4.

Such an increase will contribute to further development of the Vietnam-Czech friendship and cooperation, he said.

Mr Son congratulated his guest on his reception of the Friendship Order conferred by the Vietnamese State, and briefed him on Vietnam's independent, self-reliant and open external relations policy. He said he hopes that relations between the two communist parties will further develop, helping boost the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
