State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan has urged the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh to invest consistently in its disadvantaged areas and promote grassroots-level democracy in a province densely inhabited by ethnic minority groups.

The Vice President made the appeal at the province’s first congress for ethnic minorities held on December 16 with the participation of nearly 500 delegates.

She highlighted the sound implementation of religious and belief policies as an effective means to foil the subversive schemes by hostile forces.

Residents in Hoa Binh province, which is the cradle of the well-known Hoa Binh Culture, have united and unanimously followed the Communist Party of Vietnam, actively contributing to the nation’s wars of resistance.

Since the national reunification in 1975, they have joined hands to build new lives. Over 4,000 local households donated land for the construction of the historic Hoa Binh hydro power plant.
