A Communist Party of Germany (DKP) newsweekly recently run an article written by Gerhard Feldbauer, praising Vietnam's achievements in its renewal process and the persistent stand of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) in the role of leading the country to carry out the goal of socialist and communist construction.

The recent 10th congress of the CPV emphasised that the renewal process starting in 1986 is a fitting development direction for the party and affirmed that the party has operated on the basis of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought, the author said.

By maintaining an average annual growth rate of 7.5 percent since 2001, even up to 8.4 percent in 2005, Vietnam recorded the highest growth in the Southeast Asian region, thus contributing to improving living conditions for its people, Mr Feldbauer said.

He also spoke highly of Vietnam's achievements in poverty reduction, illiteracy elimination, and healthcare.
