Half-Vietnamese, half-Russian violinist Ailen Pritchin won the first prize at an international violin contest, which was held in Moscow from April 26 to May 5.

 

The talented violinist eliminated many artists from Russia, China, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the US, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Moldova, Germany, Japan, Britain, the Czech Republic and Slovakia to take the top honour.

 

Mr Ailen Pritchin, 18, has Vietnamese father Nguyen Vien Thong and Russian mother Marina Pritchina, who now live in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

 

As many as 38 candidates from many countries took part in the contest, the fourth of its kind so far.
