PM Phuc recieves Harvard University professor

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed Vietnam's recognition of high importance to the Vietnam Executive Leadership Programme (VELP) at an April 13 reception in Hanoi for Professor Thomas Vallely from Harvard University.

Phuc told his guest that the VELP-a joint effort among the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam Programme at the Harvard Kennedy School and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)- provides a venue for Vietnamese leaders to discuss policies and keep updated on the latest knowledge about management thus helping work out proper public policies. 

The government leader expressed his delight at the growing Vietnam-US ties following Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit last year and the establishment of the Vietnam – US strategic partnership in 2013, saying education and training cooperation are among the top priorities of the Vietnamese government. 

Phuc also praised Professor Thomas Vallely as a close friend of Vietnam who has contributed to fostering the Vietnam – US relations and educational cooperation as well. 

The US professor said his university wants help Vietnam with economic development via joint studies and seek more financial assistance for the VELP.
