Representatives from 24 leading marine companies in Denmark introduced their latest shipbuilding technologies and marine services to their Vietnamese counterparts at a symposium in Hanoi on February 27.

The event was part of the Danish entrepreneurs' tour of Vietnam from February 25 to March 2 to seek business opportunities.

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Trade Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said Vietnam is actively carrying out a strategy on marine economic development, with a focus on the shipbuilding industry in order to take full advantage of more than 3,000 km of coastline.

Anette Eberhard, Vice Director of the Danish Government's Export Credit Fund, revealed at the symposium that an agreement on credit fund worth US$40 million will be signed in Nha Trang city to help local companies import marine equipment from Danish suppliers.

A Vietnam-Denmark Navigation Club will also make its debut in Nha Trang on the same day to serve as a forum for members to exchange information about shipbuilding activities.

The Danish entrepreneurs are scheduled to call at the Hai Phong-based Pha Rung and Ben Kien Shipyards and the Cam Ranh and Saigon Shipbuilding Industry Companies.
