Vietnamese businesses want to expand the partnership with Egyptian counterparts in order to help domestic goods to penetrate the African market, said Deputy Minister of Trade Tran Duc Minh.

During the Vietnam-Egypt business forum in Cairo on December 17, Mr Minh said: “Vietnam always opens its door wide to welcome businesspeople from Egypt and Africa to conduct business and invest in the country”

He spoke highly of Egypt's economic and trade potentials and put forward a series of measures to promote trade cooperation. Two-way trade, expected to reach US$65 million in 2006, has not yet matched the two countries' potential, he added.

Egyptian Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Hesham Fathi Ragab congratulated Vietnam on its accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and hoped that being members of the world's biggest trade body, the two countries will expand their economic, trade and investment ties.

He emphasized the Egyptian people and its business people's good sentiments towards Vietnam and their admiration for the country's national defence and economic development.
