So far, the country has imported 6.2 million vaccine doses to supply to localities in order to control the foot-and-mouth disease of cattle.

The Veterinary Department said that the disease has been kept under control in some localities. However, new outbreaks of the foot-and-mouth disease have been reported in 248 communes in 91 districts of 25 provinces and cities.

The disease has also been detected in some localities such as Bac Lieu and Lai Chau. The Veterinary Department has asked these localities to cull infected animals, launch vaccination campaign and strictly monitor the breeding and transport of cattle in affected areas.
