Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has expressed his desire to boost bilateral cooperation with France, particularly in the fields of economics, trade and investment.
While receiving the outgoing French Ambassador to Vietnam, Jean Francois Blarel, in Hanoi on July 16, PM Dung also urged France to support Vietnam’s projects to upgrade Long Bien Bridge and build Hanoi Medical University into a training establishment that meets international standards.

Ambassador Blarel said the positive development of France-Vietnam relations is based on the three major platforms of economic cooperation, official development assistance (ODA) and political ties.

The diplomat also said that France will back Vietnam’s bid for non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council for the 2008-2009 term.
