Business and production in Vietnam improved significantly in 2010’s second quarter, reports a recent Vietnam Business Insight Survey (VBiS).

According to the survey, which was announced in Ho Chi Minh City by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry on September 16, improvements in legal environment, marcoeconomics, conditions for business, increasing market demand both domestically and overseas, and ability to access information all had a positive impact on business growth.

However, many enterprises taking part in the survey expressed concerns about factors that seriously affect their operation like traffic jams and power cuts. One thirds of them said the current loan interest rate is still too high for them.

They also proposed measures to speed up administrative reforms, improve the business environment; strengthen inflation control, reduce interest rates, and upgrade the traffic system.

Most of the businesses expected that conditions for their operation, especially macro policies, access to bank loans, infrastructure, and availability of skilled workers and business space, will see more significant improvement in the third quarter.

Funded by the Asia Foundation, the VCCI‘s quarterly survey collects feedback from the business community through online questionnaires and provides the Government and interested companies accurate and comprehensive insight into Vietnamese business development and feedback on policy, enabling better business decisions and policy changes.
