ArchDaily blog features Q10 House
VOV.VN -The Q10 house located in a residential alley in the heart of District 10 in Ho Chi Minh City represents a balance between creativity and efficiency, says architectural website ArchDaily in a post on its website.
Q10 is a home for a family of four. The house size is a bit odd with a width of five metres but length of nine, which is much shorter than a typical row house. |
Located at the ground floor is a small garage big enough for at least four motorbikes and behind a small living room mainly for guests, which can double as a spare room. |
From the first floor, the staircase changes direction leaving the entire three-floor height above a big airy and bright void space. |
From the second floor, the typical layout consists of one master bedroom and other open space played as a common, multi-functional area that is now the son’s open working studio. |
Along with spatial organization as well as ecological strategies, one of the special features totally differentiating the house with surrounding neighbours is its curtain facade. |
This curtain is built with light cement blocks supported by a steel frame covering the entire house front elevation. |
It plays as a double-skin facade protecting the house from direct sun light but still letting the air flow into the rooms while maintaining a view to the outside. |
At night, the facade is cleverly lighted up from the interior, standing out from other houses in the alley. |
This lantern facade is just enough to keep privacy for the family but also fascinating to those in the neighbourhood. |
Some say "It is akin to an interesting amusing giant lantern, lighting up the small dark alley like no other houses." |
