Three US-funded HIV/AIDS prevention projects, which have been carried out in Nghe An province and Hai Phong city, have helped reduce the spread of the epidemic after three years of implementation.

  • New HIV treatment therapy piloted in Vietnam

The assessment was made at a seminar in Hanoi on September 23 to review the results of the projects funded by the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief in the two above-mentioned localities that have high rates of people with HIV.

These projects included prevention of HIV inflection among fishermen and gays, provision of health care for people living with HIV, and control of HIV transmission among female lovers of HIV-infected men and drug addicts.

Participants at the seminar shared their experience in caring for HIV-infected people and in preventing the disease transmission. They also discussed how to maintain sustainable operations of HIV/AIDS prevention projects.
