PM Dung works with Dak Nong and Nam Dinh leaders

(VOV) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on March 6 had working sessions with key leaders of the northern province of Nam Dinh and the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong in Hanoi to discuss their socio-economic performance.

Working with key provincial leaders in Hanoi, PM Dung has urged the northern province of Nam Dinh to fully tap resources for construction and development.

He agreed with the province’s goals for this year, including a 12 percent GDP growth export turnover of US$400 million, a minimum rise of 15 percent in total social investment, and a 5.5 percent reduction in poor households.

Nam Dinh needs to remove obstacles for production and trading firms, attract investment, especially in high added value industries, and make the best use of high-quality human resource.

The local authorities should pay attention to applying science-technology advances in intensive farming, accelerating modern rural area construction, and developing healthcare, culture and education.

It is imperative to enhance administrative reforms, combat corruption and take drastic measures to ensue traffic safety and order, Dung said.

Dung, together with ministry and department leaders, gave opinions on the allocation of capital for the construction of the Nam Dinh–Phu Ly road and the negotiations for a 2,400MW power plant in Hai Hau district.

Provincial Party Committee Secretary Pham Hong Ha said this year, Nam Dinh will step up the construction of new rural areas in 96 communes until 2015, open more large-scale model fields, channel more credit into production and trading to increase competitiveness, and attract domestic and foreign investment.

Last year, Nam Dinh’s GDP grew at 11.7 percent with per capita income of VND 21.1 million. The province created jobs for 30,500 workers and reduced the rate of poor households to 6.72 percent.

Meeting with key leaders of the Central Highlands province of Dak  Nong, the Government leader praised the province’s achievements in socio-economic development since its reestablishment, particularly in economic growth, healthcare, education, poverty reduction, political system building and ensuring social order.

He asked the locality to continue to mobilise resources and exploit advantages to serve socio-economic development, especially in agriculture, forestry, the growing and processing of industrial trees, hydroelectricity and mining.

Dak Nong should also pay attention to health care, education-training and infrastructure, he said.

Last year, the Dak Nong Party Committee, local authority and people made all-out efforts to overcome difficulties and realise most of the set targets.

The province has devised a 2013 development plan focusing on infrastructure to boost socio-economic development and social security in remote and ethnic minority areas.
