Since 1993, France’s Nord-Pas de Calais region has provided Vietnam’s central Thua Thien-Hue province with 3.2 million EUR in aid for cultural, educational, environmental and socio-economic development.

The figure was released at a meeting held recently in Hue city between experts from the Nord-Pas de Calais Regional Council and representatives from central Thua Thien-Hue province.

During the meeting, they discussed cooperation plans for the future with a focus on human resources development and cultural exchanges for the former imperial capital.

Earlier this month, the French region contributed VND558.6 million to the restoration of four historically important homes in Hue City. The funding is part of a larger project initiated by Nord-Pas de Calais that aims to preserve a number of historically and culturally significant homes in the province.
