Russian market in HCM City entices visitors
VOV.VN - The 20 year-old Russian market at the centre of HCM City has sold a wide range of food and souvenirs from Russia, attracting a large number of local and foreign visitors.
Covering an area of 2,000 square metre in Vo Van Kiet street, district 1, the market was founded by an alumni from Russia. The market attracts thousands of domestic and foreign visitors a day. |
The Russian market consists of nearly 200 pavilions. Its entrance follows the Kremlin architecture. |
The market mainly sells warm clothes. |
Vu Anh Duong from the management board of the Russian market says the market sells made-in-Vietnam warm clothes to Russia, Europe, America, the Republic of Korea and Japan. |
Most of buyers are foreigners and domestic customers who are going abroad. Some Russian transport companies set up their representative offices there. |
Clothes, shoes, gloves, socks and boots are sold at the market. A local resident in Tan Binh district says the prices of commodities are reasonable. |
Some pavilions put up bilingual signs and most of traders can speak English and Russian. Foreigners can find plus size dresses here. |
Souvenirs including pictures, watches, lamps and Russian dolls in various colours and sizes are available at the market. |
An owner of a pavilion says goods are mostly imported from Russia including cosmetics, food, beer, wine, and souvenirs. Salmon caviar, spice and Vodka wine are best-selling products. |
The market is bustling at weekend, attracting a lot of tourist shoppers. |
