50 years ago, the Politburo decided to establish Mission 759, the precursor to Brigade 125, to open a strategic marine route to transport supplies to the Southern battlefields.

Participants in the event was moved to tears when touching some historic items and listening to stories told by Tran Phong, a person who recorded all the missions of more than 168 ships in 10 years and Ngo Van Tan, a mechanic of Phuong Dong 1, the first ship which had successfully archored in Vam Lung, Ca Mau.

Ho Kiem, involved in providing arms supplies for the 1968 Tet offensive, recalled challenges facing the crew of his ship at the time.

Half a century has past but the glory of the legendary sea route remains fresh in their minds, he said.
