Tran Quoc Thinh, an overseas Vietnamese living in New York, has been awarded a certificate of merit from the Minister of Foreign Affairs for his contributions to the homeland and Vietnamese diplomatic agencies in the US.
Vietnamese ambassador to the US Le Cong Phung presented the award to Thinh at a ceremony in Washington DC on October 9.
Thinh has encouraged many Vietnamese nationals living in the US to join hands to support their compatriots in the homeland. He and some Vietnamese in New York have set up a company to send mail and overseas remittances to Vietnam in a convenient way.
This is the second time this year the Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs has conferred such the honour on Vietnamese nationals in the US.
