A delegation from Aichi prefecture held talks with Vietnamese businesses in Ho Chi Minh City on July 7 to exchange experiences and seek investment opportunities.

They also discussed practical difficulties relating to legal policy and proposed measures to improve the investment environment.

Japan currently has 1,171 valid projects in Vietnam with a total registered capital of US$18.6 billion, ranking third among foreign investors in Vietnam. In the first half of this year, Japan has invested in 43 projects with a combined capital of more than US$1.1 billion.

Aichi is one of the biggest economic and industrial centres in South-Central Japan. More than 70 Aichi businesses have current operations in Vietnam, including world-leading groups, such as Toyota, Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha.

Head of the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Do Nhat Hoang praised the potential and quality of Japanese projects in Vietnam and expressed his hope that in future, not only big economic groups but also small-and medium-sized Japanese businesses will expand operations in Vietnam.
