In response to a “heart for children” programme launched by Vietnam Television and Viettel Company, Vietnamese people in Upha city in Bashkorostan have raised US$12,000 to help children suffering from heart disease in Vietnam.

The sum will save close to a dozen Vietnamese children suffering from heart disease. The Overseas Vietnamese Association and the Vietnamese women’s association in Bashkorostan sold a DVD on “Vietnamese Cultural Days in Upha” to raise money for charitable activities and to help Vietnamese experts feel a closer attachment to their homeland.

The Overseas Vietnamese Association in Bashkorostan was established in 2002 with 3,000 members. The association has taken an active part in charitable activities to help Vietnamese people back home.
