The Central province of Thua Thien-Hue People’s Committee has decided to build a reserve to protect the Sao La deer (Pseudoryx nghetinhensis) population.

The reserve will be completed by 2012, covering 12,153ha in A Luoi and Nam Dong districts.

The project will be built at a cost of VND10 billion, half coming from the State Budget and the remaining from international organizations. The aim is to preserve the Sao La and other rare animals in Truong Son range area and also help to promote socio-economic development in the buffer zone.
