Thai, Vietnamese journalists spur cooperation

(VOV) - A delegation from the Vietnam Journalism Association (VJA) led by its Chairman Thuan Huu paid a working visit to Thailand from September 26 – October 2 at the invitation of the Confederation of Thai Journalists (CTJ).

During the talks with the VJA delegation, CTJ Chairman Thepchai Yong proposed closer coordination between the two agencies for upcoming major events, including the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community, the meeting of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists (CAJ) and the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Thailand ties.

The CTJ supports the VJA’s 2-year CAJ chairmanship that will begin at the end of 2015, he said.

Agreeing upon the CTJ’s suggestion to pilot training courses for Vietnamese and Thai reporters, VJA Chairman Thuan Huu suggested the two sides sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation by year’s end.

He also told his host that preparations for the CAJ meeting to be held in Vietnam this year are going smoothly.
