Vietnamese residents met on August 29 to mark the 65th anniversary of National Day (September 2) and the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

The event was attended by representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy, the Vietnamese community and those who are studying and working in Thailand.

On addressing the function, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand, Ngo Duc Thang, emphasised that despite the numerous difficulties and challenges in the region and the world in recent years, Vietnam has recorded significant achievements in various fields with a high economic growth rate and the poverty rate declining remarkably while its socio-political stability and national defence has been maintained. These achievements were partially contributed by overseas Vietnamese people in Thailand, he said.

Nguyen Van Trao, a resident of Sakaew province, expressed his feelings towards his homeland. “Over these days, millions of Vietnamese nationals are celebrating a number of big events in the homeland,” he said.

During the meeting, there was music and dancing to commemorate the late President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam’s revolutionary cause.
