Vietnam wishes for more investment from Indonesia

VOV.VN -Vietnam desires foreign investors, including those from Indonesia to expand their operations in Vietnam, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc while receiving Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in Hanoi on April 17.

At the meeting, the Indonesian diplomat informed PM Phuc of the outcomes of the third meeting of the Vietnam-Indonesia Bilateral Cooperation Committee held in Hanoi the same day, which will contribute to further boosting sound relations between the two countries.

She said she hopes the two countries’ leaders will continue maintaining exchange visits as a basis for promoting bilateral cooperation in multiple fields and that the two governments will offer more favourable conditions for investors in order to further enhance bilateral trade towards achieving the US$10 billion target in the time ahead.

Vietnam and Indonesia are major trade partners of each other, PM Phuc said, noting that with the significant growth of the two-way trade over recent years at 6.5% during 2012-2016 and at 16% in 2017 alone to US$6.5 billion, trade between the two nations will soon reach US$10 billion.

Both sides agreed that the good collaboration between Vietnam and Indonesia will contribute to reinforcing cooperation and solidarity within the ASEAN.
