The Vietnam Study Encouragement Society raised nearly VND5 billion from individuals, enterprises and donors in 2006 and granted 9,200 scholarships worth VND4.6 billion to students who have overcome difficulties and excelled in their study, said its President Le Khoa.

The society has already spent more than VND100 million building dozens of classrooms and houses for teachers in remote areas and VND81 million supporting other learning promotion activities.

The society is mapping out long-term plans to encourage local and foreign enterprises as well as other social organizations to contribute to developing the education sector.
