A ceremony to welcome athletes participating in the first Southeast Asia (SEA) Table Tennis Championships-VOV Cup was held at the National Broadcasting Centre in Hanoi on September 9.

At the event, VOV Deputy General Director Hoang Minh Nguyet shook every athlete’s hand, wished them all health, and encouraged them to compete well.

After the ceremony, the athletes continued on to Hai Duong province which is hosting the championships.

The VOV-Cup will officially kick off at 8pm on September 11 and will be broadcast live on VOVTV, VTC3, and VTCHD1.

The event has drawn the leading table tennis players in the region, including Singapore’s Gao Ning (World No. 19), Malaysia’s Yu Mang Yu (No. 17), and Thailand’s Nathana Komwong (No.89), who will compete against Vietnam’s best players-Doan Kien Quoc, Dinh Quang Linh, Tran Tuan Quynh, Nguyen Nam Hai, Mai Hoang My Trang, and Mai Xuan Hang.

Many of the same athletes will be competing again later in the upcoming ASIAD and SEA Games.
