The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and its Ho Chi Minh City chapter on December 30 jointly organised a mass commemoration of the late Most Venerable Thich Duc Nhuan, former Head of Sangha Raya Council on his 13th death anniversary.

Most Venerable Thich Duc Nhuan died in 1993 at the age of 93 after 12 years running the Sangha Raya Council for two terms.

He was one of Buddhist clerics selected to a Buddhist delegation to visit President Ho Chi Minh and Vice President Ton Duc Thang in 1957.

The late Buddhist chief was recognised as a bright example in boosting national unity and charity activities through his capacity as a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for many terms.

He was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order and the Independence Order, first class by the State.
