PM works with Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group

VOV.VN -  Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has urged the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) to address its business challenges to promote production.

In a working session on April 22, PM Phuc praised PetroVietnam’s major contribution to national industrialization and modernization, national energy security and budget collection.

He said the group should review its regulations to improve state management performance and corporate governance.

PetroVietnam should join hands with ministries and agencies to review regulations and rules in order to improve the efficiency of State management and business administration, increase the application of scientific and technological advances, and propose comprehensive solutions to fulfill tasks assigned by the Party, State and people, he added.

As one of the country’s key economic and technological groups, PetroVietnam is focusing on five areas of operation - oil and gas exploration and production; refinery and petrochemicals; the gas industry; power generation; and high-quality petroleum technical services.

In the first quarter of this year, the group exploited a total of 4.56 million tonnes of crude oil and 2.78 billion cubic metres of gas, 7.2% and 11.7 % more than its quarterly targets, respectively.
