Tien Minh competes in China Open tourney

(VOV) - Vietnamese player Nguyen Tien Minh faces Chinese rival Chen Long in the first match of the 2014 China Open Super Series Premier kicking off on November 12 at the Haixia Olympic Sport Centre in Fuzhou.

Chen Long is seeded No. 1 at the tournament and now ranks second in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings.

Minh is placed 18th in the world men singles of BWF rankings, 16 notches lower than his Chinese competitor.

They previously met each other on four occasions and the Vietnamese player only emerged victorious once at the 2012 Thomas & Uber Cup.

The China Open Super Series Premier 2014 runs through November 16. The winner will receive a cash prize of US$700,000.
