PM Dung chairs 45th emulation and reward session

On February 9, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung chaired the 45th session of the Central Council for Emulation and Reward, reviewing its work in 2011 and devising key tasks for 2012.

Last year, the council effectively fulfilled all the set tasks with a focus on evaluating and learning from its mistakes in emulation and reward work. Emulation campaigns proved effective and contributed greatly to boosting the country’s socio-economic development and encouraging the people to actively respond to the “Studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example” campaign.

Over the past year, the council asked the State President to make decisions awarding 13 Gold Star Orders, 30 Ho Chi Minh Orders and thousands of other types of orders and medals.

The council defined some major tasks for 2012, including enhancing emulation campaigns from early this year and guiding ministries, sectors and localities to review eight years of implementing the Emulation and Reward Law. It will also submit to the PM a project to grant awards of distinction from the State, honour exemplary role models and launch emulation movements on practising thrift and preventing waste.

In his speech, PM Dung praised the council’s efforts to contribute to fulfilling the country’s targets such as stabilizing the macroeconomy, curbing inflation and ensuring social welfare and national defence and security.

The government leader underlined the need for the council to raise its sense of responsibility for monitoring emulation and reward work, closely associating it with socio-economic tasks, in addition to stepping up communication to multiply exemplary role models in labour and production.
