The central province of Ha Tinh has fulfilled its assigned tasks for 2011, says Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung.

NA Chairman Hung made the statement while working with the people and authorities of Ha Tinh province on February 4. He said he believes that Ha Tinh will be able to meet its development targets for 2012, giving fresh impetus to the implementation of its 2011-2015 socio-economic development plan as set by the provincial Party Committee.

To deal with the challenges that will result from global economic difficulties in 2012, which are likely to affect Vietnam’s effort to maintain a high economic growth rate, contain inflation, and stabilize its macroeconomy, Mr Hung asked the province to thoroughly study the real situation in order to create appropriate criteria for socio-economic development.

He also urged Ha Tinh to improve the quality of Party building by sharpening Party members’ capacity to meet the demands for socio-economic development in the new context.

According to Secretary Ha Tinh provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh, Ha Tinh's great efforts have paid off in significant initial achievements in 2011. The economic growth rate reached 11.7 percent and annual per capita income was estimated at more than VND16 million. Export revenues reached US$70 million while total social investment was VND9,966 billion. The provincial budget earned VND2,202 billion, social security and national defence were maintained and development was seen in culture, education, and healthcare.

In 2012, the central province has set a target to increase economic growth to 12-13.5 percent and budget revenue to VND2,720 billion. It also aims to reduce the number of poor households to 16 percent.
