Cat Bi International Airport in the northern port city of Hai Phong will receive roughly US$106.3 million from the government for its upgrade from now until 2025.


The People’s Committee of Hai Phong city and the Ministry of Transport on January 15 announced the Prime Minister’s decision to support the project.


The airport will be upgraded to receive A321 and B767 planes and welcome 2 million passengers by 2015.


It is expected that the airport will be capable of carrying 3.6 million passengers,  transport 82,000 tonnes of cargo a year and receive additional B747-400 and B777 aircraft in the next tens years.
