Many provinces and cities nationwide are preparing for the forthcoming national population and housing census, which will begin on April 1.

The northern province of Bac Giang has held 70 training courses on the census for more than 4,000 officials and the provincial Department of Statistics has asked remote mountainous districts to use teachers to help with the census.

The northern city of Hai Phong has around 1,500 venues for people to take part in the census, and is conducting an information campaign to help local people understand the importance of the census.

The central province of Quang Nam has directed all districts to complete the inventory and run training courses on investigation and management skills. Quang Nam’s census steering committee has also requested all districts and communes to review and adjust the collected data on population and housing from March 25 to 30.

Meanwhile, the southern province of Tien Giang is expected to complete the local census by March 25.
