Vietnam installed 740,000 new telephone lines in March, a year-on-year increase of 63.6 percent, raising the total telephones nationwide to 17.1 million units to reach the average rate of 20.5 per 100 people.

Of the total number, mobile telephones accounted for 59.3 percent. Internet subscribers hit 3.2 million by late March, representing 3.8 percent of the total population.

Internet services users reached 11.8 million, accounting for 14.2 percent of the country's people.
