State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan has affirmed that Vietnam creates favourable conditions for foreign businesses, including those from Canada, to invest efficiently in Vietnam.

While receiving MP Patrick Brown and Canadian businesses in Hanoi on March 17, Ms Doan said that even though Vietnam is suffering the global economic crisis, it still has opportunities for development.

She expressed her pleasure at the positive development of friendly and cooperative ties between the two countries and appreciated the Canadian MPs’ support for Vietnam.

MP Brown said that the purpose of his delegation’s visit is to explore Vietnam’s land, people and culture and to seek opportunities for cooperation with Vietnamese businesses.

The MP delegation is accompanied by representatives of 13 businesses majoring in finance, trade, services and transport.

The same day, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations presented the Medal for Peace and Friendship among Nations to four Canadian parliamentarians and businesspeople.

The awardees included Honourable President of the Canada-Vietnam Friendship Association Giang Tu Binh, Canada Federal MP Patrick Brown, Tony Ruprecht, MP for Ontario State and Denzil Wong, member of the Toronto City Council.
