More than 31,000 illegal foreign labourers in Vietnam

More than 31,000 foreigners are working illegally in Vietnam, according to the Employment Department under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).

Most of them came from Asian countries, mainly the Republic of Korea, Japan, and China, to do business or work for projects carried out by foreign investors in Vietnam. They have kept staying in the country after their visas are invalid.

Le Quang Trung, Deputy Head of the Employment Department, said the local departments of labour, invalids and social affairs are involved in dealing with the situation.

MoLISA has asked local authorities to help domestic and foreign employers strictly follow regulations on management of foreigners employment.
