According to the park management board, eight projects worth US$275.4 million were licensed last year.
The board is now considering 27 other potential projects with investors worth US$2.5 billion.
The Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park is a joint venture between Japan and Vietnam. Japanese partners are responsible for the project’s planning scheme to draw in investors.
It comes on the heels of the Vietnam-Japan joint statement signed by the two Governments on October 19, 2006.
When completed, the park will be divided into four zones: Research and Development, Hi-tech Industry, Education and Training, and a software park. It is also expected to facilitate universities and many high-tech equipment plants. The plants will manufacture electronic and semi-conducting products, digital and bio-technology products and telecommunication products.
