Hanoi has released a list of 20 major projects, with most of the projects dealing with infrastructure upgrades, worth US$4.4 billion in investment for the 2006-2009 period.

The municipal People's Committee has submitted the list  to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, seeking US$3.4 billion in official development assistance (ODA) from the Japanese Government.

These projects include construction of a plant and facilities to treat liquid waste treatment from the To Lich river and serve management and maintenance of sewer systems, especially a major project for construction of an urban railway linking the Hanoi railway station with Noi Bai International Airport.

Hanoi is also looking for Japanese ODA to invest in a major hospital on the northern bank of the Hong (Red) River to improve public healthcare for Hanoians and people in neighbouring provinces.
