PM gives nod to new rural construction program
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has approved a national target program for rural construction during the 2016-2020 period.
The program is specially designed to have 50 % of communes across Vietnam meeting new rural standards by 2020, while encouraging each of the centrally run cities and provinces to have at least one district meeting the new standards.
It also aims for the average commune to meet fifteen of the new criteria, with no commune meeting fewer than five. The program will complete the construction of essential facilities meeting the demands of production and improved living conditions for rural residents in transportation, electricity, water supply, schools, and communal clinics.
Under the program, the focus will also be on improving the quality of life of rural residents, creating multiple production models fitted with decent jobs for local people, providing incomes at least 1.8 times higher than those of 2015.
