The Oriental University of Naples in the Campania region, Italy will include Vietnamese language as an official subject in its curriculum in the next school year.

This was affirmed by Professor Pietro Masina from the Oriental University of Naples at a seminar introducing investment opportunities in Vietnam, held in Naples city on May 5.

The initiative is of significance, serving as the first step to advancing comprehensive relations between Vietnam and Italy in general and Campania region in particular, said Vicenzo Schiavo, an official from Naples municipal Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Handcraft and Agriculture (CCIAA).

Vicenzo Schiavo pledged that CCIAA will actively support the Vietnamese-teaching project in the future.

Participants at the seminar agreed that adding Vietnamese language into the curriculums of Italian schools would enhance cultural exchanges.

Vietnam has recently dispatched a delegation of young entrepreneurs to study and learn more about Italy’s management experience.

Naples city also plans to send its young entrepreneurs to Vietnam to learn about the country’s experience in attracting FDI and coping with regional and global economic crisis.

Currently, Italy is carrying out 34 investment projects in Vietnam worth a total of US$162 million.
