The Supreme People's Procuracy has asked the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court to bring to court seven defendants involved in a case of terror, with Nguyen Huu Chanh acted as the group leader.

The agency proposed the prosecution of the seven defendants on the charge of terrorist acts in accordance with Article 84 of Vietnam's Criminal Code.

The accused include Nguyen Thuong Cuc (alias Foshee Thuong Nguyen), who registered her permanent residence at 3802 Quando Dr, Orlando, Florida 32812, in the USA; Huynh Bich Lien (alias A Linh, Linda) at 311W New by AW D San Gabriel California, 91776, USA; Cao Tri (alias Quoc) at 5549 - 96st Stpeter, FL33782, Florida, USA; and Le Van Binh (alias Phu), at 2905 W Peal Ave, Tampa, Florida 33611, USA.
Other defendants are Tran Dat Phuong (alias Hai Phuong), whose permanent residence was registered in Vinh Hung hamlet, Vinh Thanh Trung, Chau Phu in the Mekong delta province of An Giang; Ho Van Giau (alias Ba Giau) in group 2, My Quy hamlet, My Phu commune, Chau Phu district, An Giang province; and Ho Van Hien (alias Sau Hien) at No. 4, group 4, Khanh Loi, Khanh Hoa, Chau Phu, An Giang province.

According to the Supreme People's Procuracy, the guilty acts of the above-mentioned defendants occurred over a long period of time and their plot to protest against the State of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam was extreme.

To carry out the scheme, Nguyen Huu Chanh and his accomplishes stopped at nothing, including terrorist bombing and storming radio waves to call for an uprising and then to stir unrest and violate the lives of cadres, public employees and ordinary people. Their activities were discovered and prevented by concerned agencies, before they could do any damage.

As for Nguyen Thuong Cuc, one of the seven defendants, playing the so-called role of Assistant Minister of Civic Services (SE USA), Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs in Nguyen Huu Chanh-led terrorist organisation, she carried out tasks to organise all meetings in southeast USA, communicate directives and give orders of the terrorist organisation under the direct guidance of Minister of Civic Services Nguyen Van Sy to members in southeast USA. Together with Minister for Foreign Affairs Duong Dai Hai, she was assigned to address internal, external affairs and to receive political officials invited by the terrorist organisation. Although Cuc knew that all Chanh-led activities were of terrorist nature, she actively took part in and lent a helping hand to Chanh's organisation.

In 2005, Chanh set up an office under the cover of doing charitable activities in an attempt to bring people from Cambodia to Vietnam to take part in terrorist activities. Cuc arrived in Cambodia, leasing an office for the organisation and recruiting two Cambodians to work at the office. Cuc was assigned by Nguyen Huu Chanh to go back to Vietnam to run economic and financial operations for his organisation, including purchase of handicraft, fine art articles, footwear, clothes and other products for export to third countries in order to benefit from preferential tariffs before sending them to the US to enjoy tax reduction and earn income to support the organisation's terrorist activities.

As for Nguyen Huu Chanh, he was prosecuted by the Security and Investigation Bureau (SIB) under the Ministry of Public Security for acts of terror and information dissemination against the State of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. As time ran out for the investigation and Chanh was still free, the SIB issued Decision No. 227/ANDT on temporary suspension of the investigation and issued a wanted notice for Chanh in accordance with the law.

The Supreme People's Procurary proposed to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court to seize means and tools that defendants used to commit the crimes and the objects and money brought in from the crimes.

The HCM City People's Court will begin a trial for this extremely serious case in the coming days.
