Sprinter Thao wins third silver at Asian Grand Prix

(VOV) -Young Vietnamese runner Do Thi Thao bagged another silver medal in the women’s 800m race on May 12 at the third leg of the Asian Grand Prix Series in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

She finished second with a time of 2 minutes, 6.38 seconds, just one second behind W.K.L.A Nimali from the host country.

Thao took home two other silvers from the earlier first and second legs of the tournament, which were held in Bangkok and Chonburi, Thailand on May 4 and May 8, respectively.

The Asian Athletics Association presented her with US$2,400 and she is  now considered Vietnam’s best hope for a medal at the SEA Games in Myanmar later this year.

Thao is next scheduled to attend the Asian Athletics Championships in New Delhi, India this July.
