National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong received delegations from the China National People’s Congress and the Indian Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development in Hanoi on December 14.

The delegations were in Vietnam to attend the 9th Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD), which took place in Hanoi from December 13-14.

During the receptions, the Chinese and Indian delegations highly appreciated Vietnam’s efforts to successfully organise the event, and its NA’s role in the international arena.

The NA Vice Chairwoman thanked the two foreign delegations for their contributions to the 9th AFPPD in Vietnam. She shared their viewpoint on the importance of the forum’s topic for discussions, saying that population, climate change, food security and sustainable development are the issues of global concern.

The Chinese and Indian delegations’ active participation in the forum is a demonstration of the two countries’ support for Vietnam in general and for the Vietnam NA in particular, said Ms Phong.

Ms Phong also expressed her belief that the traditional friendship and comprehensive co-operation between Vietnam and China as well as between Vietnam and India will always be maintained and developed for the benefit of each country’s people and for peace and stability in the region and the world at large.
