The Prime Minister has approved a National Education and Training Program lasting until 2010, with a total capital of nearly US1.3 billion, to put Vietnam’s education on the same level with other countries in the region and the world.
The program includes many projects to upgrade school facilities and education quality, such as universal high-school education, and textbooks and teaching materials.
The program also aims to support education in the disadvantaged regions, including mountainous and ethnic minority areas.
The capital for the program will be sourced from the central budget, official development assistance and local budgets.
