The Dung Quat economic zone now has 119 tenants, with a total registered capital of US$5.4 billion.

The management board of the zone said 34 operational projects paid US$23 million or 46 percent of the province’s tax payments in the first eight months of this year and created more than 1,000 new jobs for local people.

In addition to the Dung Quat Refinery, other major projects include the US$260 million machinery plant invested by the Korean company Doosan, the US$1.8 billion steel refinery invested by the Taiwanese Tycoons and E-United groups, the US$1 billion Japanese-invested paper pulp mill, and the US$700 million Dung Quat Shipyard.
