The Vietnam trade mission in Japan said trade turnover between Vietnam and Japan hit US$12.5 billion in 2007, up 26.1 percent from the previous year.
Vietnam’s exports to Japan reached US$6.5 billion, an annual increase of 16.7 percent.

Vietnam fetched US$1 billion from crude oil exports to Japan, US$835 million from garments and textiles, US$763 million from electricity cables, US$555 million from seafood, US$229 million from woodworks and US$181 million from footwear.

The trade mission forecast that Vietnam’s trade surplus to Japan would continue in the coming years, with new export items such as flowers, luxury garment, processed food and light industrial products.
