The sixth Vietnam-Japan Cultural Exchange Festival opened in ancient Hoi An City, central Quang Nam province, on August 15 as part of activities to mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Sakaba Mitsuo attended the event.

Visitors to the two-day festival will have the opportunity to enjoy various performances of unique traditions presenting the cultures of both Vietnam and Japan, including cake making, tea ceremony, calligraphy, Origami paper folding, kite flying and Japanese cuisine.

During the event, free medical checks-up will be provided to local people, and a seminar on environmental protection will also be held.

The annual festival is co-organised by Hoi An City and Japan’s Sakai City, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Vietnam - Japan Human Resources Cooperation Centre (VJCC).
